- This is a picture of an as yet unamed female and Victor Sergeivitch Tumansky, This was an example image for a Huzzah article on how to computer tone and shade artwork for publication using photoshop. Tumansky is a character i use a lot to warm up wih, andI have a lot of images with him.
- A discussion upon Kyoht's recent Dinosaur pictures, Resulted in DeRaptor posting links to some recent finds of feathered Therapods in China. Pretty conclusive evidence that some Dromeosaurs were feathered. Since Jaggiri are based on them, I geathered one, with mixed results.( I Hope C.S. McNiel Don't see this :-)) Copic Markers, on Manga Board and colored in Photoshop. Scott A. H. Ruggels. 10 2001
- I got word Friday, that a longtime friend, and daily source of email humor, Betty Cunningham had died. She was my first supervisor on the game "Fireteam Rogue" at Accolade 8 years ago. She was the artist that designed these characters, and I worked with them as well. The game was canceled, but I kept in touch after the layoffs that followed. I wil miss her art, (she was a frequent exhibitor at West Coast SF cons) and most of all, her sense of humor. Scott A. H. Ruggels 2000.
- Here's the final of the (as of this date, still unnamed) female wolf colored in Photoshop. The background was generated in Terragen, a little scenery generator. Again, not my usual art fare, but I thought it looked good. Scott A. H. Ruggels 1999
- Among my Late grandmothers things, was found a Sketchbook I had left at her place 10 years ago. Iwas hoping to have her do the cover of a game supplment I and a friend were writing. It did not come to be, as it was pointed out, that the suppliment, beinga fantasy analogue to the "Arab /Israeli" conflict would not be anyfun for the P.C.'s as it was a "no win" situation. Here the king recives young courtier's sourly. Ink on Paper. Scott Ruggels 7 / 2002
- THis is the third of four color pieces I will be displaying at FC. I will share the coloring technique if one is curious, as it took 4.5 hours from inks to full colors . I tried to keep a WW2 Western Desert feel for this piece "Grandmother's War." Photoshop Scott A. H. Ruggels 1 / 2000
- Canids often search for stinky stuff to roll in or otherwise share. Apparently Wolphyns aren't much different on that accord. They say curiosity killed the cat. Here it seems to have seriously damaged a gryphon as well as one oc a couple of cats. Inspired by a thread on the "Recents" board. Characters are the property of their respective creators. My First Gryphons on YERF. Tech pens , brush inks, and Photoshop. Scott A. H. Ruggels 12 / 2001
- This is a low polygon count (658) of a horse. The texturemaps are 256color, 256 square GIf files. The horse would be UT legal, if animated :-) I will probably end up doing some 4 legged animation practice with it. This is an example of the stuff i do for my Day job. Digital, 3dsMax 3.0 Scott A. H. Ruggels 6 / 6 / 2000 (remember D-Day)
- originally done as a joke, and them immortalized on the Huzzah! 39 cover, this will be on display among other works of mine at FC 2001. Photoshop. Scott A. H. Ruggels 1 / 2001
- My Contribution to the band wagon. Fun stuff. Well what would a hairy barbarian think of a high tech toy like an iPod? Digital. Scott Ruggels 1 2 / 2 0 0 3
- This is rejected cover for the Sanguine Publishing Company project, "Ironclaw". This piece was pencilled and inked by Christine Klunder. and the backgrounds and color work was done by me. I did a lot of CG geometry to enhance the metals in the pic, But most of the work was done in Photoshop. This was an interesting project. The original File is a rather huge Photoshop file at 600 DPI, this is a reduced JPEG. The mageis mavra, the Wolf is Dohmnul, and the Wolverine is T'solgotz. 1999
- With all the Cototes and Foxes around, Yerf would be the LAST place to leave a dead horse. Gab's source image used with permission (rollicking IRC chat tonight), Digital. Scott Ruggels and Melissa "Gabrielle" Spencer 1 2 / 2 0 0 3
- Here are a pair of Lupine legionaries in Imperial service. Not nobility, they are accorded respect as members of the Emperor's forces. Not matching the physical strength of humans, they are used more as breakthrough troops, and Behind the Lines raiders. Lightly equipped for maneuverability, they none the less are armored and protected with some quality gear. This is a portion of a larger picture that has humans in it. I may upload the whole thing on yerf.binaries . pencil on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 7 / 2000
- Two Birds with one stone. Well the "bird" is not the target. Anyway. Jonas, remind me to kill you later. Well if you have cops and Donuts on the same page, they are bound to meet. Characters owned by their respective creators. Pencil on Paper. Scott Ruggels 1 / 2001
- When it matters, I can do backgrounds also. This is a full version of Asheru's introduction to Magnus's colleague. Though done in Photoshop, I followed the book "Painting Wildlife Textures Step bt Step" by Rod Lawrance, to get the fur, and better contrast. Hi - REes version to be displayed at FC. Photoshop over Sketch. Scott A. H. Ruggels 1 / 2001
- Tsurukh , the Jaggiri renders her opinion of Disney's Dinosaur. Though she's one who is "unclear on the concept", there are spoilers in her rant. Inspired by a coworker and I upon our exit from the film. Personally, I kind of liked it, as a technical exercise. It does not suck, but it's pretty flat other than the animation. Brush inks and Photoshop tones Scott A. H. Ruggels 6 / 2000
- I have nto had much time of late to make new art, other than work related. This is from 1993, when I was attempting to make the Jaggiri a suppliment for Herosystem. Jaggiri about to confront an enemy army. Pen & Ink on Bristol Scott A. H. Ruggels 12 / 2000
- This is an image inspired by long Emails betwee Myself and B.J. "Bigfella" Johnson on aliens and RPG's. Here we see "B - Artisan" attempting to get directions from a pair of wary Jaggiri. This Piece was inked with a brush. I recommend brush Pens or No.1 Brushes for inking Live creatures. "B - Artisan © 1999 B.J. Johnson Jaggiri © 1999 Scott A. H. Ruggels
- It's not bad all the time, especially in the outlying, and uncontested territories. Here a Jaggiri female babysits several human children, and chats with a neighbor. Inked on paper Scott Ruggels 7 / 2002
- This is the first of a possibleseries of the Uniforms of WW2. This is Jock, of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. This was a very respected and decorated regiment during World War Two. He is dressed as any British Soldier would be at the time, with P37 Web gear, a No.4Mk.I .303 Calibre rifle, and his "Steel bowler" (Helmet). World War Two is a subject of endless fascination for me. Image pencilled and inked traditionally, and colored in Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Image © 1999 Scott A. H. Ruggels
- This is the first July 4th in a long time, where Iam not involved in some sort of parade, Either with the Historical Society or the equestrian group. I'm at work, not doing work, but waiting for the Redwood City Fireworks display at 9 PM. I've been looking at a lot of propaganda art as of late, and it shows. A happy and explosive Holiday to all my fellow Americans :-) Pure Photoshop Ruggels 7 2001
- Regardless of Magnus' initialrudeness, the Humans were wlelcomed into the camp of Asheru's tribe. The Young lord was invited to go out hunting for meat to bring back for the feast. He took the invitation gladly. Lupine senses coupled with Human missile weapons, made for the makings of a bountiful feast. Pencil on Paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels. 1 / 2003
- His Imperial majesty, Defender of the one true faith, Reaver of his Enemies, Stalwart ally to the distant Lands of Man, King Gnaius (?) Acutus IV of the Lupine Kingdom. This shows that you cn do more than sketch with a pencil. i suggest you try it sometime. very relaxing. also Roman chairs are perfect for Anthros, no backs. they just drape their tails over the back. glorios soft pecils of varying hardnesses pon recycled medium tooth paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 8 / 2000
- Magnus bows before his king, ready to recieve his mission and the Royal blessing for his mission to the lands east, to spread the word among the Heathens. From the latest issue of Huzzah!, this is part of the second part of "Asheru's Journey", my story notes about Asheru and her adventures. Pencil on Paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 12 / 2001
- The King of the Lupine shares a word or two with the Young Lord, and the Old Scholar, before granting them a writ of free passage through his lands. From the latest issue of Huzzah!, this is part of the second part of "Asheru's Journey", my story notes about Asheru and her adventures. Pencil on Paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 12 / 2001
- Here is a group of villagers in the lands of the civilized lupines. From Left to right, is a human customer, a prosperous merchant couple, showing middle class dress ( as well as some upper class details, and devotional symbols) a Legionary in a mail hauberk and cloak with spear, a low class laborer, and a visiting barbarian, looking to buy goods. Pencil on Paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 3 / 2000
- The party is crossing a desert. The lupines are simply not seen in warm climates often. Magnus, trying to put on the air of extreme Imperial civility suffered in the heat with his armour, and padding, and tabbard, until such time as the humans started to shed their armour and outer layers. With an 'excuse' presented, Magnus stripped to the waist and took the point. Pencil on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels
- Magnus can fight too, He's caught without his shield and helmet, but makes a spirited defence with his spatha (Roman style long sword). Probably fighting tribals, noting the expression of naked hate on his muzzle. pencil on paper. Scott Ruggels 7 / 2000
- I forget who, but someone on Yap or binaries asked about how to draw chainmail. It's been a while, but I found the sketch. This is an old one, never uploaded because of the previous prohibition on humans. It's an old sketch of Magnus, having beaten Asheru to the ground, and being persuaded to halt by the Armsmaster. The character's looks hadn't been set, though you can see what's chain, and what's plate on Magnus's armour. Soft pencil on Paper, 4 or 5 /2000 originally. Scott A. H. Ruggels
- A break from Asheru, I've decided to take a stab at Magnus, and try some male lupine anatomy for a change. There is some sort of balance between the (as I imagined them) natural tendency for lean, ranginess, and long limbs with the lupines and the muscle and mass granted by a abundance of food and constant martial practice and the wear of 60 lbs of armour. Here he is, drying after a dip in the public, Roman style baths. A front view. Pencil on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 12 / 2001
