- <whine> *whimper* I colored this entire thing with a MOUSE in PHOTOSHOP on a mousepad. I wanna wacom tablet and a pen and painter like everyone else has! </whine> On a different note, it's called "The Jaguar King" and is a color version of the pic I submitted to Gallery in Oct. (When IS that issue coming out?) On yet another note, it also ties in nicely with the discussion of the upcoming animated movie El Doredo...though not as nicely drawn, I am sure.
- I've FINALLY updated my website! Whoo hoo! And here is the entry page graphic. It's NOT small and cute. Yay for me. www.furnation.com/XianJaguar/
- A doodle I did at work. Inked, scanned, then colored in photoshop. Eh, nothing major, but I thought he was cute enough.
- Jaguar that I created at work for stickers. Cute lil guy. He looks better shrunk down to sticker size. The art is © TCR, created by XianJaguar.
- Commission for Jason Brandenburg. Lizard character from his story. Ink on Bristol board, stippled. Hey, I like this one. Stippling killed my wrist, so I appreciate the work of Julie Thompson. I feel her pain. 0_o
- I was getting reallllly burnt out on cranking through commissions, so I decided to take a small break and do something *I* wanted to do. I had wanted to do a pic like this every since I saw Laura Westrate (VCL) and Ben Bruin upload THEIRS! Unfortunately, the scanner killed a lot of the small details, like the fur.
- A commission for Kaellan, of herself and her winged hunting cat. Coloring the butterfly wings of the hunting cat was quite enjoyable. I think this is one of my more successful pics to date. 9" x 12", colored pencils, watercolors and markers on bristol board.
- A gift for Kannikah of her character, a butterfly-winged leopard.
- Happy REEAAAALLLY late birthday, Katarina! (yep, it's Kat, being accosted by killer butterflies...nooooo! NOT killer butterflies!----and anatomically incorrect ones, as our resident bug-lovers can attest.)
- One of my more ambitious commissions...this is Kistelli, the creation of Thomas Brady. He commissioned me to paint her, and I am proud to finally be able to upload this pic. Whew! Goauche and marker on 11 x 17 cold press illo board. (LE Jumbo print on Furbid...1076125449)
- My rendition of my friend KitFox from FurryMuck. He isn't wearing his glasses or his leather jacket in this pic. I couldn't work them into the picture, and still have it look good. But I think this came out great. This is marker, colored pencil and ink. There's a highly detailed INKED version of this (MUST SEE) in the upcoming portfolio "Wings" (with Dark Natasha, Megan Giles, XianJaguar) See you all at Further Confusion 2000!
- It's LorCat's birthday. Oh wait, it WAS LorCat's birthday. So I am a few days late. Am BUSY! But I couldn't let the birthday of such a sweet friend go by unnoticed. So here is here cougar-wolf were, Klandagi. Give a were a balloon, it doesn't last more than a few seconds. My quickest color/ink job ever. I wish I would have gone slower.
- Another pic LONG overdue...This is for Kylee - a thank you for drawing my character (a year or so ago!) Kylee is © his player. I tried to not use black outlines in this, but weenied out and added them later to tighten up the drawing. Another sad note - I posed for this drawing in the mirror.
- A birthday picture for Lady Xan of her character. For some reason, I've been running into a lot of purple characters lately. Odd color explosion. Anyway, this is marker and colored pencil with some photoshop in the background text and clean-up, and was a quick project- Total time, from blank paper to finish, roughly 3 hours. The Bible verse in the background is Revelation chapter 5, verse 13b.
- My half of an art trade (I don't normally do trades!) with the talented Leona! It's a bit of different twist for her character. I was trying for a different pose, and some cool textures. Gouache, Prismacolor pencils, prismacolor markers on bristol board. (Also, I am offering a badge commission at http://www.furbid.ws/cgi-bin/auction.pl?commission_genfur&1016499253)
- A double-sided badge for Loran. He wanted his picture in the same cutesy style as our TCM stuff. So...here it is, super cute, bubble-gum and hugs!
- A picture for LorCat and Dan! This was a pic trade. Her pic for me can be found at her site on VCL or Side 7. This is marker, pencil and ink. And no, it's not the Red Cross symbol in the background...it was just an abstract pattern.
- As a thank-you to Lynx for letting us share his table at past Cons, for creating the PawPrints zine (which will be missed), and for being the sweetheart that he is, I drew this pic of a female lynx and her hunting falcon for him. This is my first lynx femme, she's a European one. (as opposed to Canadian or North American.)
- I drew Lyosha!!! I've been wanting to draw her for the last year and just never did it, well, I finally got off my lazy arse. And drew her spotted one. Lyosha belongs to the fabulous Amy Fennell! (And for all you people I owe commissions, I am working on them...really!)
- I'll be at Further Confusion next week, along with two panels in the art show, and lots of prints for sale in the dealer's den! Here is one of the pieces of original art that will be in the show. Mark the Lion...looks like he's snarly over something! This is Prismacolor Markers, pencils, and various paint: goauche and acrylic. 9 x 12" on bristol board.
- When life sucks, I borrow Mark and go for a ride through the Heavens. (Heavens lovingly rendered in cheap photoshop detail) If Mark isn't available, I guess a ride with Eriden on his motorcycle will do nicely. In either case, I find myself wanting to escape life a lot.
- Happy Birthday to the really cool Maurice! Ok, it's late. Really late. And I still owe you a commission. I still owe a lot of people commissions. (Due to a BUNCH of lame things happening in my life, I am behind on all my commissions...sorry!)
- A commission for Maurice! It's finally finished!!! Yaay! Critiques are appreciated! This one is done entirely in colored pencils, Something which I will NOT be repeating! I've had folks tell me gouche is the way to go. Next commissions up are OffCentaur's and Reto Roth's. Thanks for being patient!!
- Cows apparantly aren't the brightest creatures on the planet. Commission for Maurice (was more than patient for this one), illustrating the lame situations bovines get into. 11 x 14, watercolor, marker and colored pencils on bristol board. Now... One more commission to go and I'm caught up!! Whoopee!!!
- My best friend Megan rides SkyDancer in a very real future event. (rev. 19:11-16) Marker, ink, and photoshop. Heaven Background provided courtesy of www.revelationillustrated.com (Inside Joke: Hey Meg! This does NOT have 100 eyes, and does NOT talk in clicks and whistles with a bark at the end, but it IS singing the Inaudible Song.)
- A detail of a commission "rough" sketch for Talin. This is the Mexican wolf femme. I drew this using a photo of a Mexican wolf (they got BIG ears!) and posing myself in the mirror, so any relationship to any other characters, living or deceased is merely coincidental! You can see the entire "rough" with plants and background temple sketched in over on F.A.N. Hopefully in the next few weeks, I'll have the composite re-traced, re-inked and colored.
- I was going to just write something totally inane, like "umm" or "blurf", but I found I just couldn't do it. This is a gift pic for a really nice artist over on DA of her character, The Misfit Dragon. Done in marker and colored pencil on 9 x 12 bristol board.
- Re-Upload. The last version was looking rather one-dimensional in values, so I asked advice in the Yerf ng's, got some suggestions, added more shadows and contrast. It looks better now, thanks to all involved. This is a commission for Moldred of his three characters, Mhyrrt the tigress, Moldred the thylacine, and Phyrrt the cat.
- I have been feeling like this lately. Oh happy happy joy joy. _sarcasm_. And in a real art slump too... I owe art to a lot of people and can't get motivated to finish anything. This was a doodle drawn and inked at work, and then colored in photoshop. Curses to all those people out there who claim it's easier to draw/color on the computer than with real media...it isn't! Computer coloring is darn hard, it never looks convincing, and it's a challenge to get any realistic texture. I am still not very happy with this... I guess I forgot the lens flare. :P
- It's...um...an anthro Narthookian. Yeah. Something I did for work that was just so bizarre that I had to share. Yes, the creature creation, name, and design is unfortunately, 100 percent my creation. I can't believe I am admiting this publically. Inked, scanned and vectorized in Illustrator. Work is done for, and officially belongs to TCR....I am the TCR slave!!
