- This is a Portrait of a friend and coworker's RPG character, Rokhan. He's a rather interesting if Political individual, active on some MUCK (furry?) Well this was a favor to an old gaming buddy :-)
- This started life as a cartoon for a caption contest on a now defunct RP website. I decided to brush it off and and color it in Photoshop, and add a 3d background. looks different than when I started. the Characters from left to right are: Vergeh, Zephyr, rokhan, Grey, and Collien, who are © their respective players.
- This was some quick drawings done for a friend to illustrate some "style cues" for 1940's era suits. People wore suits most of the time, back then. People also smoked a lot. such fine style. I put this up as others here may find it useful. scott A. H. Ruggels 1/ 2000
- The Old Scholar, however found something that seemed to give some idea of what the ancient citizens of the city were like. He found a relief carved into an interior wall of one of the larger buildings, and took rubbings of several of the figures. However, within the relief, several of the figures seemed to have been carefully chipped out. Some discussion between Magnus and the Old Scholar as to whether the edited figures were Lupines or Humans. The Young Lord suggested that it could be something else. Pencil on Paper. - "Merwolf is © the poor sods in Mrs. Wesley's family studies class. Later on in that class, they gave Merwolf wings, and the creature committed suicide shortly thereafter. Police investigations lead to conjecture that it may have been a result of pilot error, or responding to reflections in the glass of the office windows. Further investigation continues." Apologies to Miss Fennel, btu I was bored. pencil on paper Scott A. H. Ruggels 1 / 2001
- An appropriate image for the season...snow. here we see The troops of "Khura's hand" retreating after the first heavy snows of winter stalled their advance, and threatened to starve them. Jaggiri don't do well in snow. Pen & Ink on Bristol. Scott A. H. Ruggels 12 / 2000
- This piece was the second example of a color demo I was conducting with Sara. This is Sirrus. The points were about lightsourcing, textures, and contour. She looks pretty serene lounging against that monolith. She is a Ki-rin,, and the characters on the monolith are Japanese for "99". Traditional pencils, and brush, and Photoshop colors, backgrounds and Multiple layers `%-/. Sirrus is ©1999 Sara Palmer. Scott A. H. Ruggels
- This is Karen K's Twitch. He is fun to draw. Twitch is Karen Krajenbrink's, the peeved Jaggiri is mine. Ink on recycled paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 1 / 2001
- This is the final colored version of the earlier flat colored Jaggiri pic. This is Sul, again, but with shading, reflections and a quick background. You can tell I took Industrial design courses...I obsess over reflections. anyway, I put this up in the hopes you enjoy. Sul ©1999 Scott A. H. Ruggels
- This is a shot of a character, a jaggiri of the "classic period"named Sul,who is one of the example characters in an RPG project that has gone on for a long time. This Picture is an inking excercise in different finishes and textures. his Victim has been croppedoutto preservethe local sensibilities. Sul © 1999 Scott A. H. Ruggels
- Coreographing a swordfight. Asheru w sword and dagger, versus the "Lupine Lord" with Sword and tall shield. Simple inked sketch to get pose information. Stances and proceedure taken from "English Martial Arts", by Terry Brown, Anglo Saxon Books, 1997. It's all about research baby :-) Scott A. H. Ruggels 2/200
- Fun with Tanks. Inspired by Last weekend's fun at Camp Roberts, CA. Anythime you Gryphons are ready... Copics, on Manga board, w/ Photoshop Colors. Scott A. H. Ruggels 10 2001
- Ten years later%85 friend and I talking about the aging of RP characters, and one in particular. Sketch came out interesting, so I pass it on to you. Rokhan is hisplayer's property. Pencil on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 6 / 2000
- Here are some members of the <<Rengo Kantai>> (Combined Fleet) of the <<Nihon Kaigun>> (Imperial Japanese Navy) who are pivotal characters in this story, taking place in the South Pacific, sometime in 1936 - 37. The two in the foreground are officers, and the to inthe background are "able Seamen". These were done in my attempt at the Bruce Timm style. Brush ink on paper. Scott a. H. Ruggels 6 / 2000
- Members of the local law enforcement community, including the chief constable. Also present is one of the sports reporters 9or doctor, I haven't made up my mind). The Thin wolf is Tumansky's driver, and the large bruin is some Soviet security. Brush Inks On paper Scott a. H. Ruggels 7 / 2000
- Another sketchbook page of Timm-esque character designs for the upcoming project. The hound is a U.S. PFC guarding the base at the east end of east island. The Cossack in the upper middle is one of Tumansky's personal Staff. The Soldier next to him is a Tsarist guard, also part of Tumansky's (Well Tumansky's government's) Security service. The figure on the lower left is a reporter there to cover the races, and the Girl is just someone used for color. Brush inks on paper Scott A. H. Ruggels 7 / 2000
- For a side project of mine. I have been in a bit of a rut. I thought that attempting to adopt the style of another artist might help me look at the material in a new light. Here's a picture of Tumansky using more of a Bruce Timm (Batman, Batman Beyond) type of line. Bruch Inks on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 6 / 2000
- Here are various figures/characters in the story. The female is Richard bartrop's character Ilse. the two Gentemen in the back are shady characters. The piece continues in the Bruce Timm style attempt, and I have to keep kicking myself to omit detail. I have tried. maybe not enough, and I didn't have the heart to "polyreduce" the female to the usual Timm "stick woman". But I did try to keep the "curves versus Straights" that the Timm style relies on. Brush inks on pape. Scott A. H. Ruggels 6 / 2000
- Here is some further exploration into the bruce Timm style. Tumansky has become further streamlined, losing most of the curve on his neck ruff. Next to him is Richard bartrop's Ilse. Also on the page is the Soviet race pilot, Irina, and a random character, someone's surly mechanic. I must say, the style is making me thing, but also, with the drawing simplified, I don't feel i have to do /as much/ research as before, so the project is seeming a lot less intimidating. Brush inks on paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 7 2000
- This is a picture composed by Steven Irvine of all the skins for my female werewolf model for Quake 2. The model is still available at <http://www.polycount.com> or at Steven Irvine's site <http://www.mjollnir.org/~sirvine/model-fwwolf.html> I thought I would share the fine work of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the model. Their names are listed on the JPEG. and I again, thank them for their work. Scott Ruggels 2000
- Here, a jaggiri traveller engagesa human trader in negotiations. The countryside is not too safe, the reason for the armour the Rural Jaggiri is wearing. Other humans look on. Pencil on paper. Scott Ruggels 7 / 2002
- This is an Inked picture of the female Jaggiri, Tsurukh. I will colorthis one in Photoshop and post it later.
- This is a Female jaggiri named tsurukh, She;s a mercenary in an SF comic i am working on. This is her in her combat armour. Insigniadate from her service with <<Danforth's Sturminfanterie Leichte>> or "Danforth's Demons".
- This is Tsurukh in her "DressSands" clothing she wore as class "A"s during her service in her plantes Native military.
- This is a pencil sketch colorized in Photoshop. it depicts Tsurukh and her friend, the uplifted parrot papagallo.
- This is an example of my comic style Pencils, and Shows Tsurukh in an argumentative mood. it also shows more detail of her head armour. Not wise to piss off 800 kilos of muscular saurian.
- Tumansky, and as yet unnamed female take in a stroll. Tumansky lectures someone on Porr maners as his date looks on. Brush pen and ink © 1999 Scott A. H. Ruggels
- Here is a head shot of Tumansky done in Pencils. This one shows more line and construction
- for comparison, here are costume sketches of Tumansky done about a month ago. This is to contrast and compare the styles. These are probably a good illustration between "Style" and "Design" as Sondra has commented before. Tumansky is a thin, aristocratic Wolf. here, he is done in my usual style. Pen on Paper. Scott A. H. Ruggels 6 / 2000
- here's Tumansky pointing his M1895 Nagant revolver at something.he looks damn smug doing it. Yeah... I blew the perspective, but i was concentrating on the expression, and the shine. OOps... Tumansky is © 1999 Scott A. H. Ruggels
