John Macfarlane (The Robot Man) —2/2 >
- Even in the summer that ocean is freezing! But I went out anyway. Yeah, I know this scenario has been done to death buuut..I'M DOIN' IT ANYWAY! Whohoo!
- This happened to me last Thursday when I was bowling with Glenn, and it was so funny I had to draw it. There was a dead pin in the gutter, out of the reach of the pinsetter, and we were talking about hitting it. We didn't, until I put too much spin on the ball. I thought that I was gonna get a gutter ball and mess up my score, but instead hit it inadvertently, and saving _some_ of my score. It was hilarious, but, maybe you had to be there.
- No better way to get the full road trip experience than to stop at one of the few remaining diners left in the nation. Let's see, we left at 7, so they were still serving breakfast at the time. So that's what we got; breakfast (and a lllot of coffee). Colored with Photoshop.
- This is the inked version of a-sabazc.jpg, before coloring.
- A tribute to the greatest team of heroines in the world; the Knight Sabers! Pictured are (the leader) Sylia, (everyones' favorite red-eyed rebel) Priss, (the oh-so-athletic) Linna and (the less-than-strong) Nene; the stars of Bubblegum Crisis in their trademark poses (I _had_ to keep that stupid smile on Linna's face, y'know!) I must've watched it a dozen times already; especially Red Eyes! In addition, this also announces my new webpage on Tripod, devoted solely to art! Please check it out!
- This is my first attempt at Photoshop! To further benefit fur-kind, I plan to tackle a dellema. I plan to attack it with the greatest weapon of all; HUMOR! (Hence my Jerry Sienfeld impression!) The dellema; certain artists (you know who you are) going completely off the deep end on those annoying lens flares! Hey, I never said it was a very GOOD impression.
- Concept sketch of the uniforms that will be donned by the members of Project Destiny. Concealed under the left sleeve is a computerized gauntlet with a million uses, containing a Chrono-stabilizer without which each of them would return instantly to the present. Now where do I hide the weapons? That'll be in the next draft.
- Here's a modified version of the cover I had posted a week ago. I did a few things to make it easier to understand. All the characters, artwork and story are © and TM 1998-1999 by John Macfarlane. All rights reserved.
- The first page of the story. 10" x 14" bristol, ink over original pencils. Art, characters and story are © TM 1998-1999 by John Macfarlane. All rights reserved. Comments appreciated.
- The second page of the story. 10" x 14" bristol, ink over original pencils. Art, characters and story are © TM 1998-1999 by John Macfarlane. All rights reserved. Comments appreciated.
- The third page of the story. 10" x 14" bristol, ink over original pencils. Art, characters and story are © TM 1998-1999 by John Macfarlane. All rights reserved. Comments appreciated.
- Well it took a little longer to get this page uploaded than the others, but I've been busy (see last U/L). It's like 10"x14" ink on bristol. What else is there to say but, Hondas are junk! Art characters and story are © TM 1998-1999 by John Macfarlane.
- The fifth page of the story. 10" x 14" bristol, ink over original pencils. Art, characters and story are © TM 1998-1999 by John Macfarlane. All rights reserved. Comments appreciated.
- I cannot describe the depths to which I HATE this company. Anyone dumb enough to believe a phone gives you the power to "strike a blow against conformity" (as non-sequitur put it) should be shot. Of course I can hardly get a call through... I'll post a sample of their call quality on my page sometime. To vent my frustration, I came up with this parody of their AD campaign. Take THAT cingular!
- Geez, I'm actually posting on a regular basis :P. I wonder if this is the start of some kind of trend? This pic is from a concept I've had collecting dust for several years. I might make a comic out of it for my page. Pictured is Director Maze standing in front of the Chrono-accelerator portal. I've always wanted to try my hand at a time-travel story :D. "See the Future," and Director Maze are (C) and TM John Macfarlane 2001.
- Even though I've technically made-up with my GF, it still gets to me how girls always seem to want the wrong kinda guys (even girls who never knew I was taken never asked me out once!) Hence I've become highly cynical of girls my age (and in my area). I'm an artist, writer, worker, and soldier; but the girls go for the guys wearin' the Tommy gear! Sheesh!...Why am I crying? Artwork © 1998 by John Macfarlane.
- ARGH! Who says Hondas are well-made cars never saw THIS Honda! I've put $400 and 40 hours into it! The background is a B&W photo I developed and printed myself when I took the cylinder head off. The foreground displays the effort needed to get it off!
- Another old sketch, this one from a novel I read around last Thanksgiving. This is based on the character Dissa Banach from Stuart Hopen's "Warp Angel". The book was okay, but I liked the character Dissa and decided to tyr putting him to paper. That thing in his hand is an acid sword, nasty weapon. You wanna know more I suggest MATURE yerfer's only get the book!
- This is a quick framegrab from the Team-V comic I've been working on. "B" drawing her weapon! It's just a small taste of what the comic is REALLY like. The files are coming together now and will start to become available within the next 24 hours. I'm going to have 1 to 2 pages up each day, and all 16 files (15 pages and cover) WILL be up by the November 30th deadline.
- Just cleaning a few odd drawings out of my sketchbooks. I don't know why I didn't upload it before, but it's here now! Not much to describe, he's furry, he's sinister looking, and he belongs to ME! ©TM and all that!
- Oh no! One of those nasty ol' hyoomans caught the young heroine! Better try and outsmart him, cuz' good looks and charm won't let you weasel out of situation like this! (I apollogize to any weasels I may have offended) Everything having anything to do with this peice is © TM by John Macfarlane.
- There we are, the first group shot of the Agents. Director Maze is in there too. They are dark-clad people who have blended into the backgrounds of history. Each agent in the team has a different role in shaping the past. I'm still working on names for some of them and finalizing designs. Characters and Designs (C) John Macfarlane 2001.
- Another old sketch, this was done almost right after I pencilled and inked prom.jpg. I think laziness was the reason I didn't upload it, or I was on drill with my Army unit. In this image I'd say we're looking at our futures. I look to mine with certainty and direction, while Jes, is not so sure. She's heading to Georgia next semester for college, but I'll be doing pushups and ruck-marches so I tell her not to feel too badly. Speaking of which, I've updated my "Army experience" webpage at http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/4661/usar.html so please take a look.
- This is the first pic I've been able to get up since moving in. Finally got internet about a week ago. I'm still working on "See the Future." I keep working on designs and whatnot. I've also given my page a massive update, so take a look! This is the Gauntlet, the key to time travel in my story. I'll give a million points to anyone who can guess what the numbers represent.
- This is the cover art to the newest installment of the series. Silas has the comic and it should be posted to his site shortly.
- A picture of one of my alien creations. This has been on my HD for over 2 years, and still I think it's my greatest photoshop piece to date. It began as a 10x14 drawing, inked, scanned, and quickly became a 62 MB file. I spent 2-3 days on this one, using a mouse to do the shading, coloring and gradients. I had to find images of the earth and moon for the BG, and reshade them. The most difficult part was getting the red outline around the body. Ask me and I won't be able to tell you how I did it. I simply don't remember. Anyway, it deserves to be seen.
- This is my first post in two years or so (O.o) I still got it! These are the original pencils I did on 9x12" bristol for a cover to my entry in Silas Zee's Team-V comic contest. Once the comic is finished it'll be on my webpage along with lots of extras! Look for the URL in my next post!
- A sketch done to break in my new sketchbook. Nothing more intimidating than an empty sketchbook. All those white pages, staring at you, sizing you up... ahem. Where was I? Oh yeah, this is my furry self using a mixing tin and strainer. I love my job.
- "Night Mode" Artwork and character(s) are Copyright and TM 1998-99 by John Macfarlane. All rights reserved.
- See? I told you I was coloring it! True, it's only HALF colored, but if you wanna see the whole thing colored you can check it out on my website. I just added the "Making of" section, and little by little it'll all be up there.
