- If all went according to plan, you'll seem some lucky AAC attendees wearing this button design. Neat, isn't it? ^.^ I think art looks better when it's brassy. (Originally a res-independent EPS file. Any resemblance to hach-u-ri movie monsters, living or dead, is coincidental.)
- Hello thar! It's Abulafia of FurryMUCK, kickin' off his boots after a hard day and enjoying a cold one. The jury is still out on whether that's beer or saspirilla. (Originally a CMYK EPS file)
- Ahoy-hoy. This is the final design for the AnthroCon 2000 T-shirt. (Originally a res-independent EPS file). Sorry about the unusually large image size, but this has some fine details that don't show up otherwise. Check out the details of the con at http://www.anthrocon.org
- Ever have one of those weeks? Erf. o.O This looks a lot like my warren, only cleaner. (Originally a 300 dpi x 11 x 8.5 TIFF) Now when anyone asks me how I feel, if I say "aiieee!" you'll know what I mean. -.- I'm gonna go take a nap, now.
- Here's a quick picture that I drew on commission. I'm pretty sure there's some kind of story behind it, but I didn't ask. :)
- "Dinosaur Act", based off a song by Matthew Sweet. I wanna thank Amanda Geyer for coloring this picture, esp. for choosing such a nice shade of orange. :) Those of you so inclined may want to buzz by her page at http://www.primenet.com/~omaha. (Originally a random sketchbook picture.)
- This is an experiment with displacement maps, to make a picture that looks less like "colored line art" and more photo-realistic. Originally a 36"by30" 150dpi CMYK file. (Posters available!)
- Here's a picture of Helvetica Bold, the Hefty Dracosaur, his spirit crushed by a world weighed down by superficiality and hypocrisy. You know, it's hard to look angsty when you have dimples. (Originally a rez-independent CMYK EPS file). Phillip Burgess wants you to know he's not really hung up on the © thing.
- Another char.picture -- this one is Foonly the albino ferret. I think he came out more weaselly than ferrety.
- I wasn't sure what to upload for my 41st picture, catapulting me to the coveted "second page", so I chose this one. ^.^ This is one page out of a longer, 2.5 Mb PDF comic that can be downloaded from http://w3.one.net/~holmgren/images/comics/'Galileo'_starring_NC_and_Callipygia.pdf . Naturally, it took longer to put this in PDF format than it did to draw the whole thing in the first place. :^)
- I live! Wow, it's been a while. ^.^ Things have been busy. Before I start uploading in earnest, I'm uploading this picture - a quick attempt at making a tiger who LOOKS like a tiger. (Pen and ink on paper)
- To answer folks' questions as to where the crummy heck I've been, and to kick-start a moribund archive, I've got some new pics to upload. ^.^ This current batch is from a "rush order" to see if I could do 42 furry-fantasy pictures in one week, of all different species and types. Oif. Well, I did, thanks to Brett Foster who did the finishing touches. This image's final reproduction size is 1.5x1 inches @ 600 dpi, but I've resized it for computer viewing. This is Arenea Mygale, a white rat mercenary. (Of course, now that I've seen Freya Crescent, I might've drawn her differently ... ^.^ )
- Say it with me, now: "Itsa Mario!" ^.^ This is Arrabatio the blacksmith bear. Originally he was going to be a wolf, but I think bear looks better. The idea was to capture that angry-artisan look, the guy who would love his job if he didn't have to deal with those stupid customers all the time.
- This one is probably a bit more grim than I'd've hoped. This is Bouchon Envaleur, who takes his job as Judicial Champion seriously. His job is to fight those sentenced to trial-by-combat. It takes a certain kind of guy to believe in that kinda thing...
- Gregor and Kitaro, two cats who are brothers, unlike Seigfried and Roy. Not only did I have to work to capture the animation of juggling, this picture is modeled after one by Chris Goodwin. And it has cravats. Oof. Well, the fun is in trying to draw new things... ^.^
- This little fellow is "Jerobal", another cat, patterned after the "Aqualung" model of half-pitiable, half-scary indigent. Maybe he should've had more patches in his clothes...
- I must've drawn at least eight tigers before this one. The hard part is getting the bridge of the nose right. Some species have very flat faces. For Lerigot here, I wanted to capture the casual disdain that is attributed to the great cats, the kind of "Yeah, I could tear your head off, but I really can't be bothered right now."
- A quick one. This was rejected from being in IRONCLAW for being too darn goofy. I do like the expressions in it, though, so I thought I'd post it here. Enjoy! (pen and ink on paper)
- People aren't drawing enuf rodents!! ^.^ This is Malthus the Elder, a member of the new breed of middle class that happens when you start replacing property with money. Merchants are constantly in a precarious position, as the Bill of Rights hasn't been invented yet. I tried to give Malthus here one of those perpetually-nervous expressions.
- For this one, I got out the brush. This is Prewitt, the unfortunate goat who was framed for a crime he did not commit, and has been forced to take to his heels. (Hooves?) Ah, the stuff of operatic romance...
- As far as I can tell, the white-furred face of a skunk is entirely a cartoonist's conceit -- I found no photo reference to back it up. Oh well -- that said, he're Captain Wilgefortis. ^.^ One of the fun things about a medieval fantasy is that you can get so much mileage out of the Bill of Rights ... or, more specifically, that it didn't exist in medieval times. No warrants, cruel and unusual punishment, even housing your police inside people's homes -- ah, for fun. You can tell the Captain has enthusiasm for his job.
- I live! And so does he. ^.^ A Great New Sound from a Great Old One?
- Hmm... well, here's a commission for someone who never came to pick it up, and fell off the face of the earth, and it's such a nice pic, I can't resist posting it here. (Psst! If you're out there, and you know who you are .. you owe me a pic! ;) The original is a rez-independent CMYK file.
- Don't blame me! Don't blame me! I asked Kehza what I should draw, and he suggested this! And Furvert suggested the title! Welcome to the Freudian side of the Arabicavulpie's mind. :) (Originally a 8"x10.5"x300 dpi RGB Photoshop file.) See more of Kehza's weirdness at http://www.autobahn.mb.ca/~jeffnik/Furrypages/furry.html
- "The Eyes are the Window to the World" starring Kendall the Cacomistle. JPEG compression doesn't do justice to the original 8.5x11x200dpix24bit file. Kendall is ©1997 Eric Goodwin.
- Tadah! It's Jenna Grape and orange, two of the rainbow 'roo's from Kelvin the Lion's surreal comic "Macropod Madness". You can read about their misadventures at www.skunked.com/kelvinLion . (Originally a resolution-independent EPS file)
- Ever get one of those strange ideers in your head that you simply MUST put on paper? This is one of them. I could tell you the story behind this one. (Originally a res-independent EPS file.) This is the color version -- the B&W one shows up in Squiffy's fanzine, "Flan and Fur."
- "Mahogany: Cool Pussycat". Originally used as a t-shirt design. The original graphic is all vectors, and is resolution-independent.
- "Shark Walk" featuring Mahogany. Transparent interlaced GIF. The original graphic is all vectors, and is resolution-independent.
- "The Edge of America", featuring Mahogany the Maximum Cat. This image was not scanned, but airbrushed directly onto the background, then defocused and hue-protected and jazz. Originally a 8.5x11x200dpix24 bit Lab color image.
