D'OH! I forgot Ken Singshow's birthday! And I'm such a slow drawer too. Goldfur hopes that this belated birthday kiss will make up for it.
Teenage raccoon girl studying hard.
Here's the world-famous superheroine from New Zealand, Super Collie, striking a dramatic pose. I coloured this one in Photoshop and used it for the cover of South Fur Lands #21. I added some text to make it look like a tabloid expose. I had a lot of fun doing this picture. Super Collie is the creation of Terry Knight.
Superpanda! This was a birthday picture for Mike Curtis, the creator of Shanda the Panda and a good friend. Mike is an avid collector of Superman memorabilia and naturally his furry alter-ego has to be a panda, so what could be more natural? Now you all know where he disappears to for long periods at a time! The super pose was closely modeled on a generic cover pose, but I liked the way the panda head came out. Fully cloured in Photoshop. Superman is © DC Comics. Mild-mannered Mike is © Mike Curtis. :)
Surprise! Happy Birthday Altarskunk!
So it's not quite your birthday yet? Well, it wouldn't be a surprise then, would it?
This scene shows why it's not a good idea to surprise a skunk. Idea by...aww, heck, you know!
A cute and slinky mustelid.
"Tail high, creep!" A skunkette on holiday in Australia falls victim to a mugger unfamiliar with her species. He learns the hard way why people don't mess with her kind. Commissioned art for Joe "AltarSkunk" Kennedy.
"Too Many Thrills" This is a one page comic strip that I started ages ago. In fact, the idea started at ConFURence 8, but I never got around to finishing it until a year later. It is my first attempt at sequential art and I hope I do better next time. By the way, this Chakat and all others are all © 1998 Bernard Doove. Nevertheless, I love seeing other artist's versions of them!
An interspecies romance begins. The furry character is a Rrakith called Ssamara and the human is David.
A fox carries the limp form of his dead child to be buried. Victims of a plague, this tod's whole family will die except for one boy who ends up with terrible problems of his own. An illustration for the opening scenes of a tragic tale by Matt McCullar called "The Greater Good". Art © 2000 Bernard Doove.
A squirrel lass at home in the treetops.
Back at the end of last year, Trixi drew a pic of me. I said that I wanted to return the favor, but I was madly trying to prepare stuff for my trip over the Pacific to attend CF9 and couldn't do one right away. Well, here it is finally. I drew it while staying at the home of some friends and scanned and colored it as soon as I got a chance when I got back. I hope it was worth the wait.
My two characters, Chakat Goldfur and Garrek Redfox, from the Forest Tales stories. These two are deeply in love and expecting their first cub.
Yesterday, I paid a surprise visit to Yiffnet courtesy of Lindgold whose home I was visiting on my New Zealand holiday tour. When Lindy announced that he had guests, Trixi immediately guessed that it was me, much to my surprise. This picture was inspired by that moment. Happy Birthday, Trixi! Hugs and purrs from your Aussie chakat friend! (Trixi © C.Lewin, Goldfur © B.Doove)
This is a picture of a bear femme named Ursula. I like her nice, solid build and I think she looks rather sexy for someone who could hug you to death.
"Really Useful Magic". With all that power, why not make life a little easier?
Cute girl bat who loves a full moon.
Vicki Fox tries her hand at gymnastics, demonstrating her skill with the ribbon. This was a drawing done as a request from Mike Russell at ConFurence 10, but took me weeks to get done! Vicki is TM and © 1999 M.Russell.
"Washing Day". Even chakats need to do the laundry occasionally. I'm rather proud of this picture of Goldfur, my principal alter-ego.
A simple upper torso drawing of a Rrakith. I was practising colour shading with this picture.
"Welcome!" An early version of a chakat.
A foxtaur hunter vixen on a windswept hillside. Slightly modified version of a picture that I sold at the Further Confusion art show.
A wolf morph enjoys the cityscape from a balcony.
This vixen has gambled away her last dollar at a casino and now has no way to pay for a meal or accommodation. Who will help this wretched lass?
Meredith got a little too caught up in the spirit of the Games, and took on a bit more than she could handle in the weightlifting event. I did this drawing for Mike Russell at Anthrocon 2001. Meredith is a trademark character of Mike Russell.
Agents Mulder and Scully have a hair-raising experience. Or is that fur-raising? A picture done for issue #13 of South Fur Lands. Art © 1998 B.Doove from a script by Marko Laine.
I've been doing some great art lately, but due to the fact that some have humans in them, they're disqualified from Yerf. However, I have done one that IS permitted here, and that's my annual Christmas card. Chakat Goldfur wraps hirself as a present, and if you get hir, you're entitled to the biggest, warmest hug and nuzzle that you've had in your life! I'm not overly religious, but the Chakats and I all believe in the spirit and the joy of the season, so we wish everyone here, friends, artists and viewers alike, the very best for this special day, and my hopes for a great year 2000!
Yellow Fornax is shocked and delighted to receive the gift of a precious Rosewood guitar to replace the one that she smashed in a rampage of guilt. Drawing done for a Fornax story. Characters belong to Matt McCullar!
Pink enthusiastically greets Spotty when he returns from a long business trip. Drawing done for a Fornax story. Characters belong to Matt McCullar!
