This is a portion of a *huge* commissioned work I completed recently. The fur who requested it has his own plans for the other characters I designed for him, but he asked that the Raccoon Kids be in the picture somewhere, and they're my own creations, so here they are... :)
A particularly insistent fur has been asking me whether the Raccoon Kids I draw have parents. Yes, they do. Here they are.
Telbert and the Raccoon Kids! I thought for a while I'd have to explain to them the ways of my skunkomotive friend, but they seem to have picked it up all by themselves! Telbert © his player
Just a little comic I drew today. Should I preface it by saying that no harm is intended? Would it do any good?
More of my little comic...
The last of my little comic...
Mel is back! Nuff said! Hmm.. well, maybe not quite. A little more should be said. YAY!!!! :) Okay, NOW nuff said!
When I say what Mr. Johnson sent me back after the initial picture I drew, the whole concept presented itself to me almost immediately. And since I was already surpising myself on how well I was drawing Joe V, drawing the story of Larry's past refusing to leave him alone became imperative. Mr. Violence is © B.J. and the unfortuante Larry is © myself.
No, One-Eye is not very nice. I hope he doesn't shock too many folks, but, well... he's an unsavory character. And he's about to be dealt with. I gained a lot of experience and had a lot of fun working with B.J. on this story. Joe V. is © Mr. Johnson and the two diametrically opposed weres are © yours truly.
Now that you've seen the master at work, you can see that there's no way I could top what he came up with. So I tried to offer a little more insight into Larry's background, and what makes it so hard for him to accept his condition. I'm really glad to have the chance not only to do this tale with B.J. but to share it with folks - it's too good to keep. The esteemed Mr. Violence is © Barclay Johnson and Larry is © yours truly and if you haven't, go check out www.bigfella.com and be further dazzled.
This is the first pic in a story I did two years ago (to the day!) with Barclay Johnson. At that time I was just learning to get good at drawing humans (and to this day B.J's characters are the ones I have the best luck with) and even so, the no-humans policy was in effect. Hopefully now it'll make for a nice Hallowe'en touch. <:)
Hey! Waitaminnit, Rian... let me get this straight.. you've never met me before, so you just decided... you'd POUNCE on me?? What?! Um... hey, y'know, we could have, like, *lunch* somewhere... you coulda phoned... or sent me an E-mail message (Oh, hey, wait.. you DID do that, though... sorry!) Seriously, though... cool pic, Rian! You did a real good job getting my character right! Rian Real is © his player.
This is an inked and cleaned-up version of the notes I made on Rian's character design, along with a few of my guesses about his personality. Rian asked me to upload them, so he could see them. They are only guesses... Rian himself will be the final arbiter as to whether or not they are correct. Rial Real © Chris Cummins
A Feline Flying Jacket? Neat idea, Lindgold! If you could successfully market that, you'd make a fortune! :) Lindgold is © Grant Preston
Catnel did a wonderful picture of the Raccoon Kids in which she gave them each a box of Lots o' Chocolate! Hope it won't spoil their dinner... :) Catnel © Colleen Phillips
I've been admiring the cool picture that Allan Dye drew of the Raccoon Kids and myself. And the more I admired it, the more I felt that I should do something with the idea he came up with. So here it is. I was under the impression that the Kids were watching too much 'X-Files'. Maybe I was wrong? :)
As I said before, I'm going to tell the story of the Raccoon Family one of these days. Still, I haven't gotten around to mentioning the Raccoon Dad's real name. It's Gruff. Gruff Raccoon. Kind of a misnomer, really, 'cause the only time he's ever mean is when someone threatens his kids. Which poor Belzon and Zordak are about to find out.
A bit more of the story suggested by Allan's neat pic. The woefully clueless alien team of Belzon and Zordak decide to bring up the 'big guns' against Gruff but, upon overhearing the Kids' reaction, have second thoughts. Or whatever passes for 'second thoughts' for them. Did they have any first ones? :)
Thanks again to Allan Dye for another great pic! Now Active is going to have to tell his Dad about that. Zordak, Belzon... nice knowing you. >:)
No tapioca brain for THIS kittycat, Allan! Gruff is here to provide a last-minute rescue. I could almost feel sorry for these poor aliens. *Almost*, I said... :)
Wow... Allan's left us in a desperate spot. Hopefully Gene can figure out a way to get the alien language to become readable to his eyes before the craft gets too close to the sun...
The alien ship is waaaay too close to the sun for comfort... thank goodness I got lucky! Now if we all can just teleport off this thing before it's too late...
It's very strange.. in the last week or so I've received more than a few e-mails wondering if I'd started removing some of my art from Yerf. I didn't, really, it was just that some of my art didn't conform to the "no photo background" policy. A couple of them specifically asked about the 'Raccoon Kids as teenagers' pic. So I clipped the photo background out and pasted in an abstract one. I kind of like this one myself, so I can understand why they asked. :)
Angel Bear did a charming picture of the Raccoon Kids last year (at Christmas) of them playing cards. And he's right, they do. But the game gets interesting the way they play it... :)
After fishing Alistair out of the water, Ferris invited the Raccoon Kids to throw *him* in. They did. He liked it. :) Ferris is © Thomas K. Dye
I saw Catnel's very moving portrait... and even though she made it clear she wasn't feeling that way any more, the feelings it evoked were quite profound. This was another one of those ideas that stick in the mind and won't leave you alone till you draw it. <:)
I've been in a running e-mail conversation with a fur who not only doesn't believe that I used to suck (I did, BTW) but that I'm sometimes dissatisfied with my present art. Everything I draw I carefully evaluate, and if I can't get it to where it has the right "feel", I don't use it. This pic is one of them. It was going to be an e-mail attachment to a friend encouraging him to make a decision. To the fur who asked me so piteously to see one of my 'unseen' pics, here's one. Hope you're happy... :)
Wow... seeing Dante's spooky "Catloween" pic put me in mind of some more of my 'unposted' art.. in this case, a Hallowe'en story I did last year in an *offline* art exchange - we snail-mailed diskettes, the artist had no full-time Net access. He had plans for his char's, and he specifically forbade me to post them, and the story would make no sense without them. But I *can* show you the Kids! :)
*sigh*.. Well, Ocicat, you broke the news that the Raccoon Kids had their own Hasfuro TW figures, and that did it. They are bugging me to get 'em for them... really, they want 'em *all*! Espeically Action Camera Kevin, Dreamwalking Aislinn and Hard Whiskers Trooper. (Naturally, some of the hardest ones to find...)
Thanks for the info about the "City Under Siege" game, Ocicat! But there's only *one* of the Raccoon Kids who's waiting impatiently for its release... :)
