- "Queen of the Masai Mara" -- I studied jewelry of the Maasai people of Africa, and found many pieces I liked. They make such beautiful crafts. This is a secretary bird, by the way.
- "Chasing Sky Bears" - Owl chases the Lesser Bear, Ursa Minor, in the night sky. This was an older picture that I decided to touch up. [Coloured pencil and Photoshop.]
- Random bird study doodles: A Song Sparrow, (Melospiza melodia) a female Prairie Warbler, (Dendroica discolor) and an incomplete Fox Sparrow (Passerella iliaca) eye.
- "The Owl King" - The king of owls practicing his magick. By the way, that's a Luna Moth--not a butterfly. (Butterflies don't have featheresque antennae.) Besides, a Great Horned Owl conjuring up butterflies wouldn't be very fitting. The owl is also wearing the feathers of a Red-tailed Hawk, its daytime, or solar balancing raptor.
- "Unity" - I'm not entirely sure of what a proper description would be. I suppose one could make their own assumptions. Mental goulash?
- The messy process of creating creatures! Here are some concept drawings of war gryphons. I tried to get back some of the lost shadows after the scan, but had some trouble--therefore some of the darker areas in the piece may look a tad light on brighter monitors. The gryphon in the upper right hand corner totally appears to be saying, "LUKE, I AM YOUR FATHER."
- "Old Winter Unicorn" - I drew this old winter unicorn with coloured pencil and acrylic paint. I basically wanted to work with mixed media in a slightly different style.
