- "Keshet Sasta" - While flipping through John Boulton's sketchbook, I was inspired to try drawing his character, Sasta, as a warrioress of Keshet (a pseudo-Egyptian/Nubian land in Ironclaw). So, here it is. Sasta & Sasta's Rats © John Boulton. Ironclaw © Sanguine Productions, Ltd.
- Portrait of an online role-play character from a mini-campaign I'm running, belonging to and © by Inari. Ink and pen scanned in and colored in XRes and Photoshop LE.
- "Lochinvar, Ariecha and Dalton" - portrait of a PC (Lochinvar, the winged coyote) and two NPCs ("Vartans" - hippogryphs) from a plot on a certain role-playing MUCK, run by May Wasserman. Brush, pen and colored pencils. Lochinvar © Francisco Azinsan; Ariecha and Dalton © May Wasserman; used with permission. (31 Jan 2001)
- "Mage #10" - Colored version of one of several black and white "figure standing in blank space" pics I've been doing as a project to create "cardboard hero" stand-ups for Ironclaw RPG. (© Sanguine Productions, Ltd., etc.) Colored in Photoshop LE, superimposed on some scenery created with Macromedia XRES, and then I reduced saturation on the foreground so it would look slightly less cartoon-bright compared to the scenery.
- "Marshmallows," another computer-colorized doodle originally done for the Necronomicon 2002 art show. (Necronomicon, for the uninitiated, is a sci-fi/fantasy con, and despite the creepy name, is not just for creepy stuff. ;) ) (3 Oct 2002)
- "Sword Saints" Illustration meant for the martial artists section of the upcoming Jadeclaw supplement for Ironclaw, to illustrate a martial arts school that may not make it into the final cut. Oh yes, and the figure to the right is supposed to be a ki'rin. (I need to work on species differentiation some more.) The "ring swords" are based on a sword type pointed out to me by Glumilan. [© Sanguine Productions, Ltd.] (21 Aug 2001)
- "Measuring Up" - A young kitsune marks her height now that she's grown her fourth tail. Drawn at Necronomicon in 20 minutes* for Bart Fox. (* Actually, an hour and 20 minutes, but this happened during that "lost" hour with the time change. ;) ) Colored pencils, brush pen, and tech pens. Scanned in by Bart. (Thanks, Bart!) (27 Oct 2001)
- "Bastet's New Rattle" - a silly doodle I did on the back of some left over mat board, with some pens and markers, as a last-minute item to mat and hang up for the Necronomicon 2001 art show.
- "Peasant Rabbit Girl with Basket of Eggs" -- It's NOT the Easter Bunny, but I drew several rabbit designs today at the request of "Farmer!" for a sheet of Ironclaw paper models for my site, and this is one of them. (Ironclaw is © Sanguine Productions, Ltd.)
- My artistic interpretation of a rare type of "meta-elemental" found in the world of Ironclaw ( © Sanguine Productions, Ltd.) and mentioned (but not described) in the rulebook. As it encompasses all the elements, I gave it a more "hybrid" look, incorporating some features of each of the other elementals I've drawn in this series. (17 Mar 2002)
- "Phoenix in the Heavenly Pool" Illustration for Jadeclaw, © 2001 Sanguine Productions, Ltd., used with permission. Technical pens and pencil on sketchpad. 30 May 2001
- "Pop!" - fun with a unicorn and a bunch of balloons. I drew this as one of several silly pieces I did as last-minute panic contributions to the Necronomicon 2002 art show. (3 Oct 2002)
- "Qian the Qi-Ling Addresses the Animal Spirits" Illustration for Jadeclaw, © 2001 Sanguine Productions, Ltd., used with permission. Technical pens and pencil on sketchpad. 30 May 2001
- "Jadeclaw Qiling #9" - A qiling (ki'rin) mage with an "attendant fireball" and an iron fan. Colored version of one of my paper models available on my site as pdfs and fonts. Jadeclaw, Ironclaw © Sanguine Productions, Ltd.
- "Victor Reynard & Company" - A portrait of my fox bard character from Mach's D&D campaign [http://greywolf.critter.net/ad&d.htm], riding Rations the Mule, accompanied by his "familiar" (a kitten named Seither); composited and toned in Adobe Photoshop LE. (25 Feb 2003)
- "Rehnna da'Vixen" - Portrait of a "FurryFaire" character I did in exchange for a Blade Runner DVD; pen and brush; Rehnna © Daniel Bentley (1 Feb 2001)
- "Rephath: Goddess of Vengeance" - a villainess bat "goddess" from a certain online roleplay MUCK; the "scribble" in the lower left is a a letter-substitution code made up for the MUCK to represent the language of this bat culture - it just says "Rephath" again; pen, brush, pencils, cleaned up on computer (23 Jan 2001)
- "Rory's House" - On a certain role-play MUCK, my PC is a little unicorn mage's apprentice; after the completion of a "plot arc" that took over two years to complete, I decided to scribble a picture - perhaps the way Rory would do it - of Rory and his friends. Ink pen on scratch paper. (19 Jan 2001)
- "Shade" - A ghostly vixen keeps vigil with a candle that never burns low, and that gives off no warmth. Colored version of a "ghost" I drew that appeared in the 2nd edition of the Ironclaw rulebook. (Ironclaw © Sanguine Productions, Ltd.) (17 Mar 2002)
- "Do Not Surprise Skunks!" - and, presumably, that's what the photographer did, nonetheless. Skunk © Melissa Spencer, used with permission. Ink & Brush, colored pencils, plus polaroid, paper clip and scratch paper. Inspired by a discussion we had about various methods of "framing" a picture to give it something of a "story" outside the context of the picture itself. (17 Jan 2001)
- (28 Aug 2002) Ironclaw Star Atlas, North Hemisphere; an attempt to come up with constellations (with various anthropomorphs, critters and object) for the fictitious "Ironclaw world". Any resemblance between the Priestess and Gwendel is coincidental, really. (And, at this resolution, highly unlikely.)
- "Sukara" - Not that "figures standing in space" are my idea of great art, but this represents my latest attempt to depict a character with black fur without cheating and making it look more blue or grey. "Sukara" is an NPC from a certain role-play MUCK. (She's supposed to be a bat.) Brush and ink on paper, colored in Macromedia XRes, touched up in Painter Classic. (20 Jan 2001)
- "Summer & Winter" - Okay, so maybe it looks more like <i>autumn</i> and winter. Anyway, these are two more pieces done for Talin, zipped together on the scanner and touched up a bit to hide the seam. Markers, crowquill & ink, and colored pencil on Bristol board. (17 Mar 2003)
- Is she an escaped genetic experiment? An art student bitten by a radioactive hedgehog? She's an unusual superheroine with the amazing ability, when danger threatens, to ... roll up into a little spiky ball. =) Happy Birthday, Hedgy! (Hedgy © Ursula Husted) Drawn as part of a "superhero" paper model font - http://greywolf.critter.net/fonts.htm
- "Ms. Swift on Break" - another Talin commission piece, and another attempt to figure out how to use colored inks and pencils.
- "Sword Dancers" - part of a commission for Talin; these are actually two separate pieces that I drew to fit together, scanned in and "zipped," with some electronic touch-up to clean up the seam. Markers and colored pencils. (11 Feb 2003)
- "Engine Trouble" - a freebie sketch I'm throwing in with the model sheets of "Ms. Cloudsteel" and "Jenny Swift" for Talin as an added "thank you." Pen brush and technical pens. (I may try coloring it in on the PC later.)
- "Airship Mechanics on Lunch Break" - a commissioned piece for Talin; ink, dying markers and colored pencil (and lots and lots of white pencil wax to smooth things out) on bristol board, plus some airbrushing (on the computer) to try to cover up the "seam" where I had to scan this in as two pieces and zip together. (Too big for the scanner.) I like zeps! And the mechanic with the cap is supposed to be a margay, while the one having an unexpectedly light lunch is a "swift fox".
- "Ms. Cloudsteel Model Sheet" - A model sheet drawn as per Talin's specifications of a character drawn for a previous commission ("Airship Mechanics"). This one's a margay airship mechanic.
- "Jenny Swift Model Sheet" - Another model sheet, again for Talin, this one of a "swift fox" airship mechanic.
