Jonas Silver (Jonas) —2/2 >
- Yet another pic of Jonas. All that's missing is the Batsignal. ;P I hammered this one out in Illustrator with Puretone's 'Addicted to Bass' playing on endless repeat.
- Art for Further Confusion '05. Everybody's favorite psychopomp intercepts a leisurely thrown projectile.
- A Chinese dragon, which is my father's semi-avatar, and a crow for his partner, cavorting in the sky. Pencils by me; inks, colors and awesome background stuff by oCeLoT.
- A slightly crazed-looking otterdude shoots a gnarly wave.
- The aftermath of the previous image. Boy, that beach was closer than it looked, huh? ;)
- Comic-strip nyuks and giggles from yours truly.
- A devilish vixen in a bikini, drawn in a vaguely Coop-esque style for a T-shirt design. Traced over in Adobe Illustrator from a pencil sketch. Special thanks for Mark Freid for the concept.
- Alice in Wonderland meets the '60s. Here's the final version of the Further Confusion 2003 conbook cover, all vector-traced up nice.
- Anubis, Horus and Sekhmet get funky. Promo art for Further Confusion 2005's theme, "Furries on the Nile."
- Azrael, winged daughter of the mythical Coyote, takes to the air above dusky canyons. Background rendered in Bryce; character traced over with Adobe Illustrator from a pencil sketch. Coloring and shading courtesy of Photoshop. Azrael is copyright Regan S. Pylman.
- A villainous-looking, 1940s-style fox spy. Vector-traced and shaded in Adobe Illustrator 8.0 (finally got the new version!)
- I dunno who started it, but every year around early June, the Southern California types 'round here gather in Orange County for a little gathering called the Fur-B-Q. It's gotten bigger in recent years, but it was intended as sort of an alternative setting to a con, a chance to get outdoors, hike, cook up some burgers, hang out with pals. Somehow I got suckered into doing the flyer for it, and it's been a tradition ever since. ;) The demented little otterdude here is Dume, a character I created originally for a t-shirt. :) This was the flyer for 2000.
- Here's the Fur-B-Q flyer for 2001. Many, many thanks to Loran for helping me with the mega-soaker-gun. (He did a quick trace in Flash, which I ported back into Illustrator and 'fitted' to the characters.) Just for the record, the little raccoon guy with the water pistol isn't Jonas; he's Rand, another raccoon character (gasp!) I created. He started out as a totally random no-plot character, just kind of this irritable little woodlands guy that I'd doodle in page margins. I might stick him and Dume in a comic together, one of these days.
- And here's the Fur-B-Q flyer for 2002. You can't really read the fine print, but Dume's bag of chips reads: "Chipitos! New Cool Jalapeno BBQ Flavor!" Otters rock, I must say. This one was an effort to trace, with so many characters and layers and stuff, but it was worth it in the end. :) After she saw it, a friend asked me: "How can you skewer clams with a fork?" I just said, "They're 'toon clams. Like everything in a cartoon, they have the consistency of marshmallows." ;)
- Something completely random, doodled for no good reason while watching Cartoon Network. I need to watch less television. ;P
- Here's Higgins in his '70s album cover debut. :D Done with a legion of Prismacolor pencils on Strathmore Bristol board. The gold dragon's copyright to Higgins Dragon.
- Here's Huxley's badge for FC2004. He's a transgenic glowing-green mutant 'yote snowboarder. But other than that he's just an average guy. ;)
- I couldn't resist. :D
- One of my contributions to the 'Jadeclaw' supplement to the Ironclaw RPG produced by Sanguine. The panda and the dragon represent two of the four types of magic disciplines in the game. I think I like the panda better than the dragon, but I'm satisfied with the pieces overall. They actually appeared separately in the book, but I'm lazy. ;)
- And here's...Jedi Lyosha. She's so down with the Force, she don't even need pants. I had to upload this, or else she'd gnaw my face off. ;)
- Welcome to my world. Here's the latest incarnation of Jonas, with what I'd pretty much say is a canonical color scheme for him. If you get all the stuff in the background, I pity you. ;) Oh, BTW, I'm taking commissions. http://jonas.critter.net
- There's a thin line between genius and madness, and I think I forgot to ink it. ;)
- A bat guy, the result of another collaboration with oCeLoT. (I came up with the idea and did the original sketch, ink and foreground colors; oCe added the background, extra shading and glowy highlighty stuff). Look for prints at FurCon in January!
- Loran's badge for FC2004. He's the videographer this year, so I figured this'd be appropriate. ^_^
- Jonas shows off his latest avant-garde creation. ;)
- A non-morphic tiger crouches on all fours, staring intensely at his tail. Inked with a Pigma brushpen and colored with Prismacolor markers.
- Here's Mystee, a hybrid of red squirrel and red fox that I've depicted before. :) This is her FC2004 badge.
- Something's amiss at the Big Top.
- Chespi the Cheetah belongs to Erin Middendorf. And Chespi's not really like this, but I just thought she'd look cute in punk regalia. Done the usual way (pencils, then a marathon trace in Illustrator). Ever so slightly censored to be Yerfable. ^_^;
- A lot of lean, feral wolves engage in some terrifying ritual by firelight. Done on commission for Sanguine Productions, Ltd., maker of the Ironclaw RPG (www.ironclaw.gs).
