Does everyone know what day it is today? That's right. It's TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY. (see www.talklikeapirate.com for more information) This, unfortunately, is NOT a pirate. It's a furry version of someone I know. He was the only person in the school (and, I'm pretty sure, vice versa) that I could talk to about obscure music. Also, he's very tall, about 6'2", and I'm not sure if I captured that here. Bleh. This is the edited version of this picture. If you wanna see the original, email me.
My interpretation of Pseudo Manitou from the VCL. All the previous ideas I had sucked, then I looked at the cover of my journal and remembered...the jack of spades! My hand is too wobbly for inking with a brush right now, so I finished it in Illustrator with some minor touch-ups in Photoshop. (I know it doesn't match exactly, I did my best.)
An album cover/promo poster-ish thingy, partially inspired by the Rival Schools logo - www.rivalschoolsunite.com . the characters and the fake band (which is actually 'Dead Layaways', not 'unthings') are mine.
This is really just a doodle, but I liked it so much that I had to upload it. I call it the "Sea Blob" because someone told me it looks like a creature that lives under the sea. He used to have a tail, but I thought he looked better without it.
Seth Jabour of Les Savy Fav. Apparently some people are going to be getting the new album next week. I envy them. Reupload, because for some reason I can't realize horrible mistakes until AFTER I post something. My humblest apologies.
_I_ just graduated. To celebrate, here is a brand spanking new (GASP!) drawing of Seth sitting around smokin'. I had this perfect image of him in my head pointing at his shoe, only one of his legs was up and he wasn't sitting cross-legged. Oh well. There will be more to this picture later, like another character (Tim) and a background. Oh, my birthday's this Thursday if anyone cares. =P
Hack and Cedric in full Clinic/Sgt. Pepper's surgical garb. Uhm, well, not really...the actual costumes are way more elaborate, I just couldn't find decent ref. pics of them. I rarely colour things on the computer anymore, and now, I know why. Cedric's right leg looks really weird as well. Sadly, the days of weird surf guitar are over. Get set for more twisted Levi's TV adverts. Ah well. Booyah. @_@
I invented a game called "let's see how well I can draw something without using reference". I am dumb. This was a scribble that wasn't supposed to be anything, but which turned into a non-anthro Spike trekking across a desert of some sort. Oish, I need to start learning how to use colour.
Oh my god, I uploaded again. How scary. Shoving paint around...this was inspired by the band Rachel's, although Spike is a pilot and not a sailor. Oh well.
"Whatever You Do, Stay Calm!!" -Billy and Spike, fighting, or something. I was going to colour this, but I haven't gotten around to photocopying it yet. (Note: If you want to email me, please use [email protected] again. My REAL address now gets 100-odd spams a day. And to think I signed up for a new Hotmail address just so I could collect spam THERE!! Yeesh.)
Agh. Uh...this is Bernard Albrecht/Sumner from New Order/Joy Division (I think...someone correct me if I'm wrong). His design here is copyright to JEZ LEE, whose art I miss dearly. She'll probably never see this, but I felt like drawing it anyway cause I just discovered Joy Division and they're kicking my ass all over the place. (yes, I know I screwed up his hair...) Also of note is the fact that I (almost) figured out how to use watercolours. Which most of the background was done with. w00t.
Tim Harrington looks sooooo much like a lion it's not even funny. This is in the Midtown of Saskatoon, across the street from THE VINYL EXCHANGE, the...uh...well, _almost_ the best store ever. How he got there is beyond me.
Most of my pictures lately have been done in school, this one is no exception. Done because although Cedric is the primary vocalist for the Dead Layaways, he shares the vocal chores with Hack + Twitch. My pen is dead.
Just Twitch. Not a great scan. Why is it always late at night when I decide to draw something really detailed like this? There used to be a Songs: Ohia quote on this, but I erased it because it was tacky. Goooo Jason Molina, whatever your band's named now.
My first ever trading post picture. I've been a big fan of Stina's work ever since she joined Yerf, and so I had to draw something this time. Here's Kyri explaining some scheme or other to two guys in a JUICE bar. I swear it. XD There's no way I can win, but who enters the trading post just to win, anyway? Hope you like this, Spocha.
Repost; now scanned. My scanner won't work with my new computer but I can continue to use it on this one. Granted, I'm in the market for a new one anyway since this one's almost 6 years old and still runs on a SCSI card instead of a printer port. The company that made it no longer exists. It still works, though, and I promised myself I'd continue using it as long as it did. Anyway, once again, kiddie versions of Cedric, Hack & DLM.
