Captain Slipp berates his former bosun Blaggut, in a scene from "The Bellmaker", by Brian Jacques, Philomel Books, page 286. "The Bellmaker" and its characters are © 1994 Brian Jacques.
Squonk the Squirrel, stunned at seeing THE Steve Hackett walking just offscreen. Our friend is probably a little too much of a Genesis fan.
A young weasel, after being told by his father not to play in the river, is caught at the scene!
After discovering that Gene Catlow is a jazzophile, Squonk the Squirrel plays him his copy of Bill Bruford's "Feels Good To Me." Notice that Gene is pointedly giving it a critical ear (or is it critically giving it a pointed ear?) :) Gene Catlow is © Albert Temple... and my apologies if he's already heard it! :)
A fox cub is excitedly showing his father a book of Perrault's "Reynard the Fox" stories. Dad's a bit wary... he doesn't truck too well with this "literacy" business.
"It's....." (Footnote: Raccoons aren't actually indigenous to England, are they? Oops.)
Never, never take Alistair to the beach. Sad, really. (Alistair © Thomas K. Dye)
Sully © Scott Arsenault... looks a little like a grad photo, doesn't it? :)
Who are these guys? (I'm sure everyone's been asking themselves that. Admit it.) They're the KPET Gang, the furry contingent of the "Newshounds" cast. Back row (l-r): Kevin, Sam, Renata, Wolfram. Front row (l-r): Alistair, Ferris. All are © Thomas K. Dye.
I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that the Raccoon Kids' throwing Alistair into the water was all in the spirit of fun. Alistair needed some of that, I can tell you. The Raccoon Kids are © Albert Temple.
The Raccoon Kids give Alistair a little moral support. The Raccoon Kids are © Albert Temple. :)
Howie, Mark and Squonk on "Jeopardy!" Squonk is fervently praying for the "Final Jeopardy" category to be "Progressive Rock Bands of the '70's." Sigh. Howie & Mark are © Jason Furness. :)
This is a little sidebar to the chocolate story, inspired by an old episode of "Cosmos" I watched recently. It's an adventure that the Active Raccoon Kid has had that he hasn't told Gene or anyone else about, and it takes place just before he tells Gene what he thought of the "Fighter Furs" movie. Two more installments are on the way. Gene and the Active One are © Albert Temple. (You'll have to scroll for this one; I apologize for that.) :)
Part 2 of the Active Raccoon Kid's adventures in time. Gene Catlow and the Active Raccoon Kid are © Albert Temple. And just starting on BBC2 immediately...
...The riveting Conclusion to the Active Raccoon's adventure! I hope it has that "It's-A-Wonderful-Life" feel that it's SUPPOSED to have. We all know that Gene would never age into a crotchety sourpuss. Alistair, possibly. Gene & the Active Raccoon Kid are again © Albert Temple. (Like how I dovetailed it...?) ;)
Live from Tralfamadore! Our tribute to the brilliant author of "The Sirens of Titan!" (The furry version, of course.) ;)
The time story continues as the Active Raccoon Kid decides to spill the beans! After much debate over what to do, Kendall and the Raccoon Kids clearly choose the moral high ground. The Raccoon Kids are © Albert Temple and Kendall is © Eric Goodwin.
Alistair and Ferris heard that Azy thought they were cute, so they decided to introduce themselves. . . in a manner of speaking. I coulda warned you about this guy, Azy! ;) Asrial Cat is © her own feline self.
When Gene first met the KPET crew, Sam had ideas on what would make a good afternoon's entertainment. I didn't say "good" ideas, just ideas. ;) Gene Catlow is © Albert Temple.
Well *chuckle* fortunately Kevin and Alistair showed up in time to save Ferris from making a fool of himself in front of Kendall & the Raccoon Kids. ("Save Ferris"...sounds like a good name for a band.) Anyway, it appears everyone's had a good time at the movie... although Alistair might have had too much action for his blood. ;)
"Once a newshound, always a newshound." More fun with the temporal disturbance as Wolfram -- whose journalistic abilities rank him between Ted Baxter and Pauly Shore -- tries to get the lowdown, but it appears our good Professor actually has the lowdown on him. ;) Professor Badgerton is © Clifford Lieder and Gene Catlow is © Albert Temple. Gene also contributed dialogue and story ideas, so muchas gracias! :)
Haharr! This be Gabool, from MARIEL OF REDWALL, which be © Brian Jacques!!
Ferris was a bit starry-eyed when he first met Gene, so naturally he had to procure himself an autograph. ;) Gene Catlow is © Albert Temple.
I told Squonk that an e-mail friend had told me that "Please Don't Touch" was his favorite Steve Hackett album, and he immediately jumped up, shouted "Yeah! That WAS a good one!!" and ran off. Here he is, air-guitaring to the title track. I think Steve warns people about it on the album cover. ;)
Apparently somebody threw a baby into the swimming pool, and while other folks said "Oh well, whatever" Hysteria got out the trusty dollar-bill-and-fishing-rod. :) Kurt (bless him) is trying to be helpful, but he's something in the way. ;) Hysteria & Kurt are © Julie Miyamoto. P.S. Throwing babies into swimming pools has been known to cause cancer in several states.
I had the honor of meeting Gene in that dreaded netherworld known as RL ;) and this is fairly close to how I was feeling at the time. Okay, Gene... maybe not king, but how about president? ;) Gene Catlow is © Albert Temple.
CatsWhisker's wonderful "Plan Nine" drawing inspired me to do this variation on Ed Wood's "Glen or Glenda" starring Renata and Wolfram. If you ever see the movie, notice that NO ATTEMPT was made to make that newspaper headline look anything less than PASTED ON to a real newspaper. And they cut to it at least five times. :)
In the last picture I uploaded ("arktime6.gif") poor Professor Badgerton was virtually lost in a sea of words! I thought I'd make it up to him by doing a "proper" portrait of him. :) Our learned gentlefur is © Clifford Lieder.
Wolfram, having failed to obtain a Professor Badgerton interview, can only stare as Renata gives it a shot. :) Professor Badgerton is © Clifford Lieder.
My brother wrote for me a "Newshounds" murder mystery. In it Ferris, helping Alistair investigate, goes to a Red Cross clinic and poses as a blood donor. :) P.S. Just a joke folks nothing to be alarmed about.
